Pagosa Animal Advocates
Because Their Lives Matter.

Pagosa Animal Advocates encourages the adoption
of our
pets by responsible and qualified persons.

All persons wishing to adopt must be 21 years of age, submit an application for adoption,
agree to a home visit and sign an adoption agreement.

Our rescue-foster-adoption program is limited to special needs* and senior/elderly pets.

A special needs animal is one that is ...

injured
ill
handicapped
underage
undersocialized
a restricted breed
continually chained/penned
facing euthanasia

Adoption fees ($75 for dogs; $30 for cats) are immediately used to pay the
 ongoing costs of rescuing
these special
 animals.
We do not receive funding from the city or the county and we have a very limited budget.

Do to the nature of a foster home network, appointments are required in advance to meet our available pets.

'New dogs meet existing dogs' is a requirement for all dog adoptions.

We do not ship pets.

OUR ADOPTABLE PETS

It’s tough to be a homeless pet.  It’s a really rough road for a homeless senior or special needs pet.  All too often, they are passed over by adopters -- some worry about the potential vet bills and daily care requirements, some don't believe that they 'can teach an old dog new tricks' while others are reluctant to give their hearts to a pet who may not have 10-15 years of love left to offer. Yet one kind heart at a time, people are beginning to discover the joys and rewards of adopting these "extra special" pets.

Please take a moment as we pay tribute to senior pets who are
often overlooked for adoption.
